The DigUp QuickTime permission prompt is a one-time macOS notice that appears when DigUp asks to control QuickTime Player to jump directly to a matching video moment.
Current versions: 0.6.1 for Mac, 0.7.0-beta.1 (beta) for Windows and Linux; checked against DigUp's GitHub releases on October 15, 2026.
When you search videos on an Apple Silicon Mac using DigUp for Mac, selecting a result can take you directly to the matched timestamp.
Why the prompt appears
On macOS, opening a video at its specific moment relies on QuickTime Player or IINA. When you press ↩ on a video result to open it in QuickTime Player, macOS asks once whether DigUp may control it. Allowing this lets DigUp open the clip right at the second described in your search.
Playback alternatives
Other video applications may open the media file from the start instead of jumping to the timestamp. However, you can review the exact timestamp inside DigUp without controlling external software:
Press Space once you move to a result with ↓ or ↑ to open a big preview.
The big preview plays the video from the matched moment either way.
Why does macOS ask if DigUp may control QuickTime Player?
macOS displays this prompt once so DigUp can open a video clip directly at the moment identified in your search.
What happens if a different app opens the video?
QuickTime Player and IINA open files at their timestamp, whereas other apps may open the file from the start.
Can I see the video moment without opening QuickTime Player?
Yes. After moving to a result, press Space to open a big preview, which plays the recording from the matched moment.
