What Mac includes
DigUp on macOS reads files using Apple’s system frameworks: ImageIO, PDFKit, AVFoundation, and Vision.
- Text inside screenshots and scanned PDFs through system text recognition
- Legacy Word
.docfiles - RAW photos and SVG pictures
- Indexing schedules under Settings → Folders (set default hours such as 1:00 to 7:00)
First launch
On first launch, DigUp downloads the 865 MB EmbeddingGemma 2 model once while you pick the folders to search. If your network blocks the download, download the two model files on another connection and select them with Use Files… in Settings → Storage.
The initial index pass takes a few minutes for a few hundred files and can take an hour for a large Downloads folder. After this first pass, new files become searchable a few seconds after they land.
Press ⇧⌘Space to open the search bar from any app. DigUp lives in your menu bar, where you can monitor indexing progress, pause it, or open Settings.
