Install DigUp on Mac Using Homebrew

DigUp can be installed on an Apple Silicon Mac running macOS 14 or later by using the Homebrew cask command `brew install --cask arahim3/tap/digup`.

Current versions: 0.6.1 for Mac, 0.7.0-beta.1 (beta) for Windows and Linux; checked against DigUp's GitHub releases on October 15, 2026.

You can install DigUp on your Mac through Homebrew if you prefer managing applications from the command line.

Install via Homebrew Cask

If you already have Homebrew set up, open Terminal and run the cask command:

brew install --cask arahim3/tap/digup

This command pulls the signed and notarized DMG build. Homebrew updates for DigUp are only published for notarized Mac releases.

First Launch and Model Download

Once the command finishes, open DigUp from your Applications folder. During the initial setup:

  • DigUp downloads the 865 MB EmbeddingGemma 2 model file once.
  • You select the folders or subfolders you want to index.
  • DigUp displays an indexing time estimate based on your Mac.

After setup, you can press ⇧⌘Space from any application to bring up the search window. If you prefer a direct download over the terminal, obtain the DMG installer from the Mac download page.
