Short answer DigUp is removed by deleting the app and its data folders on macOS and Linux, or by using the Settings → Apps uninstaller on Windows.
Last updated · DigUp 0.6.1 for Mac, 0.7.0-beta.1 (beta) for Windows and Linux
Follow the steps below for your operating system to remove the app and its stored files. For details on what DigUp stores locally, see Is DigUp Safe?.
Uninstall on a Mac
Quit DigUp.
Delete DigUp.app.
Delete ~/Library/Application Support/DigUp, which holds the model and the indexes.
Delete ~/Library/Preferences/com.abdurrahim.DigUp.plist to remove its settings.
If you installed DigUp with Homebrew, run this command to remove all of it:
brew uninstall --cask --zap digup
In an earlier user report (Issue #22), a user observed that a helper process for a folder estimate kept running after quitting and uninstalling the app bundle. The v0.6.1 release notes (GitHub Releases) state that DigUp’s helpers quit with DigUp. If you run into other problems, see the troubleshooting guide.
Uninstall on Windows
Open Windows Settings → Apps and uninstall DigUp.
Tick “Delete the application data” to remove the model and the index too.
Uninstall on Linux
If you installed the .deb package, run sudo apt remove dig-up. If you use the AppImage, delete the AppImage file.
Delete ~/.local/share/digup, which holds the model and the index.
Delete ~/.config/com.abdurrahim.DigUp and ~/.local/share/com.abdurrahim.DigUp.
If DigUp opened at login, delete ~/.config/autostart/DigUp.desktop.
On GNOME, also remove its shortcut in Settings → Keyboard.
How do I delete the 865 MB model and index on a Mac?
Quit DigUp and delete the folder ~/Library/Application Support/DigUp. If you installed via Homebrew, running brew uninstall --cask --zap digup removes the app, model, indexes and settings together.
How do I remove the model and index when uninstalling on Windows?
Uninstall DigUp in Settings → Apps. During the uninstall process, tick the option "Delete the application data" to remove the model and the index along with the application.
Why is the Debian package named dig-up instead of digup?
On Ubuntu, Debian and Mint, the .deb package is called dig-up because Debian already has an unrelated digup package. Use sudo apt remove dig-up to uninstall it.
Where are DigUp's model and index stored on Linux?
On Linux, the model and the index are stored in ~/.local/share/digup. Configuration and app data are kept in ~/.config/com.abdurrahim.DigUp and ~/.local/share/com.abdurrahim.DigUp.
Does DigUp leave a helper process running after quitting on a Mac?
A user reported in Issue #22 that a folder estimate helper kept running after quitting and removing the app. In the v0.6.1 Mac release notes, the developer states that DigUp's helpers now quit with DigUp.
